Goodyear Plant

Expansion of the Mechanical Press Building at the Goodyear Plant in Gadsden, Etowah County, Alabama encountered challenging subsoil conditions. An accelerated timeframe to complete the press shelf section and adjoining column pads required a safe and sound foundation system. BillerReinhart was commissioned to design the specialized foundation support. It consisted of a helical pile foundation system utilizing dual helices.

During the construction phase, BillerReinhart performed the monitoring of the installation of a total of 180 helical piles with dual helices lead section and extensions installed with the designated termination torque to allowable rated capacity. The entire helical pile installation phase lasted fifteen days. This allowed the construction phase to be completed within the timeframe designated by the owner.
